RIP Paul Raven.

I just bought the new Ministry Album, and was listening to the track that Raven co-wrote (Watch Yourself), when I learned that he had passed away. I saw him play with Godflesh for the hymns tour, and he seemed to have a positive attitude.

Damn.

The news made it to the BBC, now that's praise indeed.

For any interested parties, I was checking around on MySpace and from the Paul Raven memorial site found this other site with someone hosting a KJ song I've never heard before called "New Culture". It sounds like right at the beginning of the Raven era, could easily play on Fire Dances.

Great song!! Anyone have a better quality version of it?

TIM, check here http://www.killingjoke.com/killingjoke_home.html

Scroll down to the remasters. It's gonna be on the Nightime reissue as a bonus track.

Right on! Nighttime is far from my favourite KJ record but I'll buy this remaster for the tracks I do love and this amazing unreleased track.

Nighttime was the 2nd KJ album i heard after the original S/T. It's one of my favorites. Been looking forward to this remaster for a long time.

I wish you could hear Raven's bass on that one. Strange way to introduce your new bass player..........by releasing an album with a practically bass-less mix. In that respect, Fire Dances might've been the inspiration for .....And Justice for All.

Fire Dances should be WAY better, much more distinct and likely umm, bass-y? At least if they keep up the first batch quality. the s/t 1980 REMASTER cd had so much better seperation of keyboard/guitar it was amazing to hear.

I wonder. Neither the s/t nor the 2nd album remasters -- as great as they sound -- had the bass punch of the vinyl. I've only heard Fire Dances on vinyl, and I have a really hard time picking out the bass in the mix. If the first two album remasters are anything to go by, I wouldn't get your hopes up. I really like the album though, bass or no.

They didn't like the mix on Fire Dances and as far as I know Geordie was supposed to remix it for this remaster.

It's a good record, but a bad mix. I feel that way about the mixing on Fire Dances as well, both of which I'd like to have Geordie remix.

Interview

They are also using the original mix of Brighter than a Thousand Suns that the label at the time scrapped. Should be great.
