Not much to do with music/GF etc. but I was curious what you guys find to be some of the most annoying statements, phrases or sayings. You know the really cliche ones that just make you cringe.Like when people say"Everything happens for a reason".Oh man,I hate that shit.....some others I'd like to nominate:

"It's all good"

"I'm taking it to the next level"

"What comes around goes around"

Shudder.....

"it is what it is"

the metaphysical depths plumbed by this profoundest of statements.

"My bad."

I absolutely loathe that phrase It's incomplete, dismissive, and ignorant.

"you know what I'm saying" and "like" when used after every other word.

Totally agree. Awful expression

Also "awesome": although I am guilty of using it on occassion, but only in context. Can't stand it when people use it when referring to the most mundane of things.

This phrase seems to be somewhat recent, but mighty annoying...

"No shit Sherlock"

Other:
"You know what I mean?"

I'm guilty of a few of those. Confused

One of my main hates is people (mainly scene kids) saying 'much' as a statement after something, for example 'Hate this phrase much.'

It's so fucking annoying.

Yikes! Big Brother never really caught on here thankfully.

I hate "it's all good" more than anything.

I hate it when people "wooooo!" and then occasionally catch myself doing it.

When I used to work, the idea of "having the bandwidth" to do something was so completely stupid.

"I'm not being funny or anything, but...."

you just know that you are going to get that persons opinion on where you can improve and how they are in the right.. aaand basically what they are trying to say when all the crap is cut away is they are just telling you that they don't like you and they think that they are better than you.... when in reality the reverse is actually true.. and they are in fact jealous of how fucking good at stuff you are.. remember this... if a work colleague is irritated by you and you know that you are a conscientious worker.. then they are pissed at you doing a job better than they do..

long story short.. it doesn't always pay to do your job to the best of your ability when you are sailing in a sea of mediocrity... pride comes before a fall as they say...

"Dude"

"Yo"

"Douche"

"Sweeeeet..."

- starting a statement with "yo' and ending a statement with the word "son"

Fucking hate all these ones and I've used them, usually around other people who use them.

Similarly to that one - 'I'm not being racist but...'. It's almost always followed by something racist.

I also hear these around the work place..."that's filthy" and "that's cracking" when someone is talking about something they like.

one that really annoys me is "it's of the chain/hook/rails" Rolling Eyes

Shitloads, most fall into teenybopper ("Like, sooooo irritating"), white-boy ebonics (mainly seen in the movies I will admit) and corporate ("Grow your investment") categories.

Actually one that really bugs me is teenyboppers not finishing their sentences
"And then she was like ohmigod and then I was like ..... [neutral expression]"

Yeah? You were like what?

I work in an office with a lot of young women. It's one of the disadvantages.

Badly written English really annoys me too but that's just linguistic evolution I'm told.

I'm so happy most of you people don't hear me speak because I say 'like' all the time!!! And OMG. I think it's from watching all those John Hughes flicks and Valley Girl back in the 80s. It stuck with me.

I am a total abuser of "I'm just sayin'" because yeah I totally meant what I just said and there's no need to add that little disclaimer. So the whole "I'm not being funny" or "I'm not being racist" thing doesn't work with me either.

Simply put, there is no excuse for poor grammar. I can't stand people who can't even be bothered to try.

For me it's "LOL" when actually used in conversation, like "I'm just kidding LOL". I guess it's a little different online, but when I'm talking to someone I do not want to hear it...

A friend of mine took to quoting Austin Powers after the first film came out. A swift kick to the head quickly put that to rest.

I must admit that the term "d'oh" has found it's way into my daily vocabulary, and is generally used instead of "shit" or "fuck" when something goes wrong. On a rather more obscure note, and as a bit of a joke, me and friend used to say "puh" instead of "d'oh", in honour of the German Homer impersonator who takes Homers place when Homer is whisked off to The Village, Prisoner stylee, who used to say "puh-oh!".

Sad eh?

When drunk and at a "discotheque" we would also impersonate the old geezer from the old folks home who attempts to take the place of Grandpa on a roadtrip, and when challenged says "But can your grandfadda do dis?" and proceeds with a dance where he raises one knee up after the other going hoi, hoi, hoi, hoi etc. We were a sight to behold I tell you! Embarassed

It was a long time ago, I swear....

Yeah, I thought he had been notably inoffensive of late, probably missing some attention. And there's silly me giving it to him. Rolling Eyes
