Is that current or is that 'back in the day'??

I thought Carcass didnt start getting money from Earache until a few years ago when they took him to court for it and he had to start actually paying them back royalties..

Thats part of the whole reason they all met up once again and the getting back together talks started happening...

jeff mentioned the rr thing but played it down on the reissue dvd, however in a firebird interview for guitarworld a few years ago bill told the story in its graphic detail.

and they sued earache not because they werent getting paid but because they got " a pitiful amount" and "the figures didnt add up" . hence why they are doing the reunion shit now.

Wait now Jeff said in Rolling Stone that they did this tour to get Carcass back on the map and make sure people remember their place in history..
I got the interview saved here at work hehe.

He got tired of all this new shit coming out that owed whatever it does to Carcass and none of this new generation even knowing who they were..

Maybe he didnt wanna mention the money thing in the interview cause they finally were getting paid??

This topic turned out to be a more interesting thread than expected Wink
Thanks Nic, Lewcrusher, Andy and all the other mates for all the explanations. Even tho I knew the details from Nic already (and it's so much better to hear it with the accent)

But as Nic said, people don't pretend to be ethical, and they make their own choices and should assume the consequences. But it's weird that after ripping so many bands off, Digby can still sign up new bands. I guess he is a master at this band ripping craft of his.

no despite his noble quotes the carcass reunion is strictly money motivated mike saw what emperor made during their festival jaunt when they reformed as like carcass emperor never played the festival circuit during their heyday as there wasnt one only dynamo and wacken who didnt run some years, so its them taking the opotunity to finally cash in.

Emparah did a fine cover of Fine Day to Die (Bathory)

Keyboards are totally black metal. You need them for scary sounds and epic pomposity.

YOU NEED THEM.

IF Horgh disagrees, then he doesn't know anything and should give up the game.

great read from nic.best part for me was the talk of who wrote what on the scum material, the kind of details you dont usually get unless you are talking face to face with someone.

i say turn it around on them--nic puts out a "napalm:the early years" box set of demos.

or just release the material for free on the internet, to make sure noone will profit from it on a financial level...

Pitt - I think for the most part aside from some earlier demos/rehearsal tapes all of the old ND demos are out and about. Someone uploaded both of them (Hatred Surge and F.E.T.O.) to our old ftp and I always assumed it was Nik who uploaded them along the Bullen/Laswell Bass Terror album..
Post punk anarcho grind core.. Good fuckin stuff.

I'll definitely buy this when it comes out. SOLAH has been out of print for ages. I have never heard it myself.

the only trve way to release it is on ferric C90's, a box set of tapes, individually cracked/hinges snapped.

Really??
Thats usually one of the only ones I CAN find other than Hymns.
Seeing as how any of the macho death metal heads I know only like that one album I dont get what Earaches marketing strategy is heh.

Its not like they sign bands that are even worth listening to anymore best to just keep the classics people wanna hear in print..

I know it sounds weird Mono. I saw it frequently years ago and didn't buy it. I wish I had.

I know Dig is an asshole, but I'd be willing to forgive and forget if only he kept the old clssic stuff from Godflesh, Scorn, etc. in print. I realize I'm dreaming though: They fell out of print because they don't shift many units, or not as many as Digby Pear$$on would love.

Yeah tell me about it.
Im still trying to replace my Vae Solis that got stolen a couple years ago..

When I had to rebuy Streetcleaner/Slavestate/Pure which also got stolen, I got the oh so lovely reissues from the late 90s early 00's..
Whats with that ugly orange fucking Streetcleaner cd? I want the original one with the cover on it back dammit!

1) Emperor fucking rules. I saw Immortal 2x, they're great, but Emperor's Nightside and Anthems....2 of the best records ever. (Though At the Heart of Winter is among the best black metal albums).

2) I asked Justin in '96 if there was any extra GF material lying around. He told me no. 3 years later, Messiah pops up. I've got little doubt that LAHID was more done than he let on. From what I remember, back in '97ish, was that it was more than just a rumor. That shit is done. Very Happy

However, when I asked about Saskwatch a short while after the release on the Lo Fibre comp, he stated that all that material was dated and due to this, he'd never properly release it (I hoped for online stuff). Therefore, is LAHID not done or just not up to his idea of quality in 1997 / 2008?

Doesn't matter much to me. I hated that friggin' record. haha. Smile

If they wanted to make this release something special, the DVD would be that special one-off show he did where he played the LAHID songs live. That would be something to listen to!

Good words from Nick.

They were just too young. Money was not a part of it. It wasnt that clear that this would be worth something, in terms of money, 20 years later.

I remember being outside a Killing Joke gig in London in 2006 and thinking about what they said MONEY IS NOT OUR GOD and they had SO MANY fucking T Shirts for stupid prices for sale at the exit, I bought one. Money is not your god Jaz? What's a fifteen pound tee shirt then?

Nick, I wish you would drop me an email. Does it cost much?

I just love wine. Don't you?

In any case I wrote profoundly about my experience with all of these people's music in bloodonthesly.blogspot.com. (Should I call it Blood IN THE SKY?)

Very busy at the moment, JG, and - as a consequence - I am totally behind on writing emails / email replies...

I will manage it at some point...

On a small point:
"They were just too young. Money was not a part of it. It wasnt that clear that this would be worth something, in terms of money, 20 years later."
Even if it had been 'clear', it wouldn't have changed my position...

value pack? WTF?
Shocked

Quote:
Since the demise of the band we notice a steady trickle of interest in GODFLESH back catalog, we assume by newly fledged fans who are possibly getting into Justin's current band Jesu, and then working backwards investigating Justin Broadricks formidable body of work created during the 90's as GODFLESH.

(and then we thought we would make a quick buck out of it, by releasing some boring value pack shit, with cheap artwork, and nothing new. We emailed Justin to see if he would want to waste a few hours talking to our Betamax camcorder in a noisy pub somewhere, in exchange of a couple of beers and some peanuts, but surprisingly, he hasn't responded to us yet. Where is the love, Justin, where is the love?)
