Here's what I remember:

Day one:
- Gravetemple: as much art shit as could be expected from O'Malley and Attila Csihar. Unbearable...
- High On Fire special "Art Of Self-Defense" Set: weird crappy sound. They played "The Art Of Self Defense". No surprises there.
- Primordial: Very good. Nice setlist including a few unexpected goodies from the past.

Day two:
- Dark Souvereign: good Bathory worship. Klawful would have liked it.
- Moss: utter shite. Played the new album and no old songs. Who told that guy he is Ozzy. That was one of the worst cases of 70s I've ever seen...
- Cough: good
- Electric Wizard: good, too long
- AmenRa, very good set , but way too loud and distorted/clipping. There is such a thing as too much volume.

Day three:
- Black Magician: surpisingly good for a 70s retro act.
- Ruins Of Beverast: muddy guitar sound but good. The drummer's a twonk, though. Very Happy
- Antisect: refreshingly different but not spectacular on the Crust-O-Meter.
- High On Fire regular set: "Dude let's totally pick the three fastest songs from each of the last four albums and play them all in a row. That would be cool, dude..." I really love that band, but that setlist sucked arse. No "King Of Days", no "Bastard Samurai", no "Warhorn". Somebody should remind Pike that he has written some amazing doom-songs. Crappy sound, too.
- Ash Borer: very good, need to pick up the album.

and last:

Godflesh:
Read it and weep, fuckers. That was by far the best gig I've seen since the reunion. Of the 6 GF-gigs I've been too in my live, the only one that was better was the Selfless show in Leipzig in 1995. It was, by any means, everything Godflesh is supposed to be. Hampson did good, Benny did amazing and Justin was visibly moved by the end.
Flawless.

Still in awe how good that was.
Back to work.

This is very cool to read.

Cannot wait until 2014 presentation with "Go Spread Your Wings" mega-encore!

ah having shared some of those previous shows with you this is NOT what i wanted to hear, but can't help but be glad you enjoyed it yourself. pah, i'll have to imagine that the bass and Machine heavy set at Damnation was better, or mythologise the wrexham '91 show. MJH in the house!!!!!!

Great to hear that Godflesh killed it. Not great to hear that the German was there to enjoy it. Great to hear that the Austro-Glaswegian was not.

i might even try to make the selfless show, kerr.

i did decide to go to this one--but too late, when i finally made up my mind to carelessly spend money i don't have, the tickets were gone.

Wow. I think I might be more interested to see a full performance of Pure over one of Streetcleaner, but only by a hair.

Questions:

Did Hampson perform the whole set, not just the songs he plays on? I suspect yes.
And did they include any of the tracks off of Merciless that he's on, seeing as he was already on stage? I think it's Merciless that has 2 tracks with him.

And did they interpret Pure II? Set closer?

Man, I gotta move to Europe, you guys get way better shows over there.

Is that being assumed given the Streetcleaner/Pure shows, or has a Selfless show been announced already?

They did the four without Hampson first and then he came on for the rest of the set.

No Merciless tracks, but they did Cold World and the Loop cover with Hampson on vocals.

They did a soundscape thing at the end which was good. I don't really know Pure II so I'm not sure it it was parts of that song.

It was fucking amazing, and I'm so glad I was there.

Damn, thanks guys. I suspect the soundscape was Pure II. Maybe show'll show up on YouTube or as a release next year.

I am surprised that they didn't play "love, hate (slugbaiting)".
I guess Cold World was a decent substitution.

That one is not correct. The tracks are right, but the order is wrong. They started with Pure and then played all songs on the album that Hampson does not appear on (4 I think) and then the rest when he came on.

Cold World, Straight.. and the ambient thing at the end is correct, though. I don't think the ambient outro was supposed to be Pure II.

If I remember right, the setlist was something like this...

Pure
Mothra
Baby Blue Eyes
Monotremata
(enter Hampson)
Spite
I Wasn't Born To Follow
Predominance
Don't Bring Me Flowers
Cold World

Straight To Your Heart
Pure II(I)
(I sensed JK taking the mic and shouting "Pure, Pure, Pure" as a reference to Pure II)

Beside this awesome performance it was nice to meet Lusca's Ingrid & Mike (Alles Gute für die Knie!) and last but not least also quite an experience to play a show on Roadburn myself.
