Ahh yes, Ayshay's release was so good. Loved 'Genre-Specific Xperience', too.

damn, that was a good year for sure!

i finally bought a physical copy of TotG this year. 20 years late. up until then i had made tape copies, then burned cd copies, then had the mp3s, and finally I saw it on a shelf and thought "it's time".

I was rewarded by finally taking a good look at the liner notes and seeing he thanked ol' Snorri Sturluson.

I was the same as you! Up until a few years ago I had some Bathory on vinyl (The Return and Under the sign of the Black Mark, both second hand gems) and one or two CDs and taped copies, mp3s. I finally went out on made sure I had the first 6 albums on CD.

ah yes, YOB - Atma is a good shout, enjoyed that one.
Seventh Heaven by Pale Sketcher was probably the best thing JKB's done in 2011( apart from GF shows), so maybe that too warrants a mention.

As always, I don't know much of the music that you guys mention. But this year seems particularly bad, I'm below 1% methinks....

I'm not even going to try making a real list...

I do like this new box set though Smile

Edit: Arh fuck it

Devin Townsend: Deconstruction
Devin Townsend: Ghost
Devin Townsend: Contain us
Skinyy Puppy: Handover
ohGR: Undeveloped
Malk de Koijn: Malks toback
Jesu: Ascension (Not really on my best of list, but it did come out in 2011)

Other than those, all the music I bought this year was pre 2011

wasn't that in 2010 though? Sorry, not meaning to be a dick.

2011 was a weird year for me so I didn't really listen to a lot of music, especially new music. I spent the year discovering bands that I didn't hear but totally should. As a result Low and Sufjan Stevens are now one of my favourite artists. I'll try to compose a list but it'll be hard...

Tim Hecker - Ravedeath
Tom Waits - Bad As Me
ASAP Rocky - LiveLoveA$AP
Low - C'mon
Jamie Woon - Mirrorwriting
Kangding Ray - OR
